The main part of making this product is finding safer solutions to chest rubs that contain peppermint (menthol) or eucalyptus oils in them. These oils could cause respiratory distress in young children or could cause skin irritation. There are some very good essential oils that are rock stars for those stuffy days and nights. I hope you enjoy the solutions I have come up with. My favorite is the Black Spruce chest rub, but may do love eucalyptus’ effects as well. Try them out and you decide!
Black Spruce Chest Rub Info:
Ingredients: *Sesamum indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil, *Cera alba (Bees) Wax, *Pentadesma butyracea (Kpangnan) Seed Butter, *Picea mariana, (Black Spruce) Essential Oil, *Agonis fragrans (Fragonia) Essential Oil, *Larix laricina (Larch) Essential Oil. *Organic
Directions: Rub contents on chest or back, and use as needed.
Safety: Use on kids ages 2+. This is due to young kids’ sensitive skin and/or sensitivity to essential oils so close to their faces. I would suggest doing a patch test on a small area to make sure there is no skin irritation. If you do plan on using this on your child under the age of 2, make sure they are over age 1 and put the rub on their backs. This way it is not so close to their faces. Another way is to put the chest rub on your chest or shoulder areas and hold your child. They will still get the inhalation benefits if you are holding them near the chest rub. If skin is irritated, discontinue use.
Eucalyptus Chest Rub Info:
